If you are in a conflict or have a problem with someone:
Step One: Talk with the person directly (see dealing_with_conflict_card.pdf).
If that doesn’t resolve the situation, if you’re not ready to meet, or you think it’s inappropriate to meet:
Step Two: Get help:
- Supervisor
- HR
- Other
If you feel a meeting isn’t the right step at this point:
Step Three: Put your concerns in writing.
If that doesn’t resolve the situation:
Step Four: Meet with the person with someone else:
- Supervisor
- HR
- Other
If the situation still isn’t resolved:
Step Five: Pursue more serious options:
- Your manager, director, etc.
- Other resources outside the department
- File a complaint
Let the situation go only if doing so will have no further consequences for you, the other person, or your working relationship.
